"Petrol is N110 per litter and girls still think we are coming over to just chill". That was the first New years greeting I got from my very good friend, Akin Odedina lol. I hope you didn't miss the opportunity to have fun through out the festive season. It was a blessed one for me as I got the opportunity to be part of a yearly family getaway for the very first time. Resort tinzz!

Back to today's topic. Women are like rats! Women are like rats!! Women are like rats!!! That's what this man in his early sixties kept saying in a very interesting conversation. Its funny to see guyz talk decently about women, marriage, kids, wedding, etc. If any girl is opportune to ever listen to such convo, its most def going to be a memory to cherish.
"U see this rat (actually points at a rat that runs past lol), it knows its going to be killed yet persists in disturbing me and making my stay here uncomfortable." O.K! I paused and tried to understand where this elderly man is coming from, then I summoned courage and asked as I was hungry for details.
He then went on a story telling venture on how women can embarrass you in public without even knowing, apologise and do it again. He continues "We men act with our brains/head, women act with their emotions." He went on and on, explaining how logic and emotions never go together but still need each other to run a successful family.

I probably never would have written about this, especially here, until another friend's uncle in his early seventies spoke intensely about this same topic last week. "Women can drive you crazy! No man has the right to hit a woman, however be prepared to exercise a lot of self control because they will surely drive you crazy".
Guyz hardly talk about such topic, but when we do it is incredible knowledge gained. I sincerely wish every girl have the gift of witnessing such conversation, most especially when your loved one is involved (boyfriend, fiance, husband, or even father). You will be shocked at what is locked deep down in their hearts when they decide to open up.

This past month has been a month of wisdom inregarding life and relationship. Don't be surprised when you see it reflect in songs I dish out in the nearest future. I have most definitely learnt a whole lot. I have heard what I would never have expected my friends to say concerning this topic (even statements I dear not post here) and I would seriously recommend every guy to give this topic a shot with their friends of vast age range and also every girl to ease-drop and get surprised at what they hear.

As for me, this has been a very sensitive topic. Whether to do with marriage, when to have children, relating with your partner's family, change in attitude, or how women and men discern information differently (emotionally or logically). I am pretty sure God created Men and Women uniquely for a reason and I do wish everyone success in their choices and decisions.

Below is my podcast and short video interview with UK's finest - DJ Jam Jam on his Afrobeats Show. We talked about the controversy surrounding eedris abdulkareem and former Nigerian President Obasanjo. There was a new dropbox entry from Malawi and I also delivered a live acoustic performance for O.Y.O. Enjoy...

In my very first week here in Lagos, a friend of mine received a plea call for a contract as a writer, offering him non-working hours and a pay equivalent to a £1000 in Naira. This young man refused the proposition as though he was offered pork scratchings, then turned to me and said "na una dey enjoy for London", I laughed so hard I fell off my dinosaur. I am very certain what my answer would have been if I had got that call, you hardly find anyone satisfied with their present circumstance, especially when it comes to the London/Lagos idea. Some in London can't wait to get to Lagos as it is submerged with opportunities, whilst some in Lagos can't wait to get to London because of its comfort and stability. Few would realise that both opportunity and comfort respects no one and knows no boundaries.

As an artist, opportunity and comfort can be deceiving, especially when you have sown so much that reaping bad fruits is all you can see. You meet friends who took the plunge way back and you realise that your present situation is better due to the bad fruits they've reaped. My mind still shakes when I comprehend the kind of opportunities I have been offered in the last month and probably one day I'll have the guts to blog about it. As it might appear at the moment, it is less about how talented you are but more about how far you are willing to go to get what you want. Still, bad fruits are bad fruits as time always tells.
If I was told few years back that there is no absolute finish line for everyone in the race of life, that our tracks and lanes are different and the only thing we have in common is drive and self belief. Would I have consented?

For instance, someone graduates at the age of 20 and struggles for another 5 years to get a job, while another might graduate at age 25 and gets a job immediately. One can marry a virgin and wait for the next decade to have the blessings of children and another lady probably after having series of abortions in her past  becomes a mother almost immediately after marriage. A fellow becomes a MD at 38 and dies at 56, another becomes a MD at 55 and lives till 90. Our tracks and lanes are most definitely different.

Life is full of twists, turns, ups, downs and bounteous in surprises. Life offers each one of us different opportunities and comfort and once it is lost, its gone forever - So I was told. It's up to each one of us to patiently wait, recognise, utilise every opportunity and to discern if what we see as comfort is really comfort or just another bad fruit.
We learn as we go as no one knows it all, has it better, or is situated in the perfect location, because only few are opportune to be in the position they are today. They are not experts, they just had the opportunity.

There is a reason why we are all where we are. As I dey find the right team to take my vision, music and creativity to the next level, na so u sef get your own problem and kpalava... Stay focused my people, stay focused.
Make I go call my guy if hin fit pass the job to me, cos a thousands pounds could give me two or probably three of my next hit tracks lol.

...Please take time to listen to this track (HEART OF THE CITY- MI FT SDC) cos I think it very much relates to this issue

I had the blissful opportunity to jam with the big man Shank on Dj JamJam's Afrobeat show by Notjustok and this is what the very respected Nojustok.com had to say...

Shank Breaks Down Beef With Dr Frabz, Storm Records, “Dating” Toolz, Akon & More on the JamJam Afrobeats Show:

This has to be one of the most revealing and equally controversial interviews on the JamJam Afrobeats Show or any other show I’ve watched.

Aside talking about his music, Shank reveals “every-every” on his wahala with Dr Frabz; something that became public knowledge when Shank tweeted at Dr Frabz and then Davido echoed it via twitter as well. Shank also talks about dating famous On-Air Personality, Toolz, his reported sextape and his unsuccessful business relationship with Storm Records.

You have to watch this!

Part 1 – Interview

Part 2 – Live Acoustic In-Studio “Ghetto” Performance

Big-ups to everyone that recognised me in the video and dropped their comments, and if you didn't i guess you are not used to the hair yet lol...
